The triangular green area of Wetheral is subjugated by the ornate block- built Eden Bank, constructed in 1834. Amazingly, Wetheral is in between of the River Eden and Corby Castle. The latter is an old Georgian manor owned by the Howard family for 17 centuries now. Meanwhile, this castle has a pele tower that was constructed in the 14th century—serving as a defense against Border rivers.

The village of Wetheral actually possessed a lot of beautiful and interesting spots such as the Wetheral Priory Gatehouse, this is a Benedictine priory constructed by Ranulph de Meshines at around 1100. This gatehouse is the sole one to remain in the priory during the 15th century. Also, few distances from the priory tower the man-made caverns right beside the river. This caverns originally served as the places of refuge by the monks in Wetheral during the time of border warfare in the 14th century. The Corby Castle is also one of the greatly visited spots in Wetheral because of the classical architecture it depicts. The castle beautifully illustrates the glamour brought by red sandstone ashlar, neo-classic style, and slate roofs.

Also, beside the river of Wetheral stands the famous stone sculpture called as “Eden Benchmarks,” a product of the crafty hands of Tim Shutter.
