Tebay
Tebay is a small village settlement nestling comfortably between to tiny bodies of water, the Lune and Birbeck. These are small streams which crisscross Tebay making it a fertile land for farming and a good place for fishing. In the past, Tebay village was very remote but the introduction of the railways changed that. Tebay became a settlement and economic activities started especially tourism. When you’re in Tebay, there are two things you shouldn’t miss: mountain hiking and Salmon fishing. Tebay: Gateway to the Great Howgills Mountain The village of Tebay serves as a jumping point to the Howgills mountain range. The mountain path starts at the village and you can follow it all the way to the summit. The Howgills Mountain can offer significant challenge to novice hikers. The lush vegetation and steady uphill climb for hours will surely test your stamina and determination. You will be rewarded though with the rich flora and fauna that can be found in the forest. There are also excellent falls, streams, and gorges that could certainly wipe your weariness away. Catch Some Salmon while in Tebay After your adventurous mountain trip, why not enjoy the excitement of Salmon fishing at the streams of Tebay. This activity is very popular among the locals and visitors alike. There is also an abundance of Salmon in Tebay you’ll surely get your fair share of the fishes. You can fish at the banks of the stream if you don’t want to rent a boat. It is best however to go upstream aboard a local river boat to enjoy Salmon fishing to the fullest.
