Longtown
Longtown is a settlement located on the English border, three miles away from Gretna and six miles from Carlisle. Now, if you are looking for a place in England that is rich in historical spots, Longtown is the one you should visit. The historical edifices constructed in here make this place really interesting to explore. Examples of historical spots you may see here are the Longtown Bridge and Longtown Castle. Additionally, you may also see some operating establishments here that are still constructed during the early years such as the Graham Arms. Graham Arms and Longtown Bridge Graham Arms was originally constructed by Dr. Robert Graham to serve as a coaching inn for travelers. Today, this establishment is still serving its purpose. You may see it now welcoming you with the arrays of trees that tower on both sides of its street. Meanwhile, the view of the Longtown Bridge that stood above the River Esk remains magnificent to be captured in a photograph. Longtown Castle Illustrates Its Past Royalties Longtown Castle is called as Marcher castle. This was actually constructed in 1180’s by Walter de Lacy, a Norman Lord. Apparently, this castle has survived the centuries with pride. Once you go to Longtown, you can still see it towering with its impressive structure despite of its ruins.
