Lake District Music

Lake District music is a collection of styles from the United Kingdom and abroad, new and seasoned performers, solos, duets, ensembles, concertos, cultural, traditional, non-traditional . . . but the key is that it is indicative to both home-grown and international. This brings to Lake District music a level of sophistication that works its way in and becomes part of you as you listen. Unfortunately, all this is featured in summer arts and music festivals that take place each year in the Lake District region of the United Kingdom, which might explain, at least partially, the popularity of the Lake District during summer months. Events such as these, including art exhibits and a plethora of other cultural presentations promote local pride and distinction, not to mention an appreciation for world talent showcased right there in the backyard of the Lake District.

Among the various styles and forms involved in Lake District music festivals are chamber music, jazz, and, of course, classical music. The concertos—both indoors and outdoors—are spellbinding to all who absorb the experience. Lake District music in this context is always family-friendly and offers something for everyone, including children. It is intimate, a personal experience.

Another significance of these Lake District music festivals is that they showcase both UK and world premieres, suggesting that many unforgettable first-appearances have occurred here. That says something about the Lake District.

Other forms of Lake District music, from the regular everyday to the featured, include CD shops, entertainment cafés, to some nightclubs (who said that London was the only place in the United Kingdom for this?). Cultural and heritage performers are wide in abundance to give their own areas their respective local flavours and colours. All you have to do is listen!
