Lake District Family and Kids Events at the Lake District National Park

First, let us take a look at the Lake District family and kids events that you can take part in at the Lake District National Park area. This is a popular holiday destination where mountains and lakes are the main attraction.

However, with such a bounty of natural resources to discover, are there any children-friendly Lake District family and kids events that your entire family can participate in when you visit the Lake District National Park?  The answer is a resounding yes.

Here are some tips that you can follow if you plan to join any of the Lake District family and kids events held within the Lake District National Park:

  • Take the "easy" route when going on guided walks.
One of the most common Lake District family and kids events within the Lake District National Park is a guided walk within the vicinity.

If you have children who are below 11 years of age, this type of Lake District family and kids events within the National Park may be too strenuous for them – so you may want to take bus or ferry tours instead.

  • Explore the Grizedale Forest Park.
One of the many Lake District family and kids events that you can take part in when visiting the Lake District National park is the Safari program.  Here, guests can take a minibus tour of Cumbria's many natural attractions.
The good thing about these types of Lake District family and kids events is that both the children and the parents will have a better appreciation of nature once they are in one of the guided tours.

  • Take your children to the playground and picnic grounds within the area.
This may not be among the Lake District family and kids events – but you will still have a blast bringing the children to the playground within the Lake District National Park, particularly at the Visitor Centre at Brockhole.

There is also a picnic ground here which you can use while the children observe the birds and other wildlife living in the National Park.

  • Join in the numerous crafts and county fairs.
If you are looking for seasonal Lake District family and kids events, there are plenty of crafts and county fairs to join. Pony rides and horse shows are held in the summer – while Halloween Lake District family and kids events are held later in the year.
