Because of the amount of tourist trade that the Lake District attracts, it’s important for each Lake District designer to have the ability and experience to maintain the look of the villages and cities in which they work. The importance of the function of a Lake District designer depends on the area where the designer works and the look and layout of the village itself. When you’re dealing with a Victorian or other period design, the work of a Lake District designer is more specialized and defined than in villages where there may be more emphasis on the modern type of building design.
The look of each Lake District village is unique and as such the work of a Lake District designer must be unique as well. The key is to maintain the look of the village whether it’s modern in design or from some period in the past. The designer must be able to maintain either look if he or she wants to succeed as a Lake District designer.
