Bed And Breakfast

Imagine waking up surrounded by luxurious linens in a four-poster bed that looks as if it belongs in fairy tale.  As you stretch and sit up against the mountains of pillows that adorn the bed, a knock on the door and permission to enter your tastefully decorated and beautiful room gains you a delightfully delicious breakfast fit for royalty.  This is the way of life for those who choose to stay in a Lake District bed and breakfast.  Lake District bed and breakfast offer amenities that one is not given when staying in a run of the mill hotel.  Lake District bed and breakfast can help to insure that you have a wonderful experience during your trip to the Lake District.
Bed and breakfast inns are nothing new to travelers in the United Kingdom.  They have actually been around for centuries.  If you delve into the history of Europe, you will find that weary travelers of great means used local homes and inns, just as many people do so today.  In the past, as royalty traveled from estate to estate across the rugged lands of our past, they would stop along the way at various inns and homes that were on their pathways.  The owners would accommodate them in their nicest rooms and give them a meal before they departed in the morning for their destination.  As time has passed, many proprietors have decided to officially open their homes for everyday tourists and coined the term, "bed and breakfast".  The Lake District bed and breakfast offer some of the greatest views and amenities of any around!  Whether you want to gaze adoringly at the majestic fells of the area, or watch the sheen of the water coming off of one of the many lakes, the Lake District bed and breakfast can offer both of these for your pleasure.
Many of the bed and breakfast inns in the Lake District offer choices for even the pickiest eaters.  At most of the Lake District bed and breakfast, the guest has two to three menus to choose from.  A number of the Lake District bed and breakfast will give you the menu the night before and you can simply choose a few meat and bread choices from a large list that is available.  Normally, you turn these in to an appointed area before heading down for bed at night.  One will find that you can also choose from a variety of beverages, such as tea, milk, juice, or coffee.   Most have traditional English breakfasts as well as lighter fare for your dining needs.  If you happen to be a vegetarian make sure you let the owner/proprietor know so they can plan accordingly.  Most of the cooks are more than happy to plan their menus around the likes and dislikes of their guests.  A large majority of the Lake District bed and breakfast also offer meals throughout the day for an additional fee.  This is a wonderful amenity for those who may want to stay on the grounds of the bed and breakfast for an extended time.  Most of the Lake District Bed and Breakfast Inns also specialize in foods prepared and cooked in traditional Lake District style.  For example, pork and lamb are common ingredients used throughout the Lake District in many meals.  Most of the fresh fruits and vegetables that are eaten in the district are also grown by Lake District farmers.  For those that choose to make their home away from home stay even more luxurious at one of the many Lake District Bed and Breakfast accommodations- you’ll likely find these sorts of dishes making the menu for your selection.
If you are interested in getting a good feel for the local people and the local places to hang out, then staying at a Lake District bed and breakfast is a wonderful way to gain entry to this "local world".  Most proprietors of a bed and breakfast should be able to tell you about their favorite local haunts and hangouts.  This is also a much more intimate way to hang with the locals, since you are staying in their home.  For the most part, most proprietors of the bed and breakfasts live on the grounds, so you will have easy access to them at any given time.
Many people who have fears of staying in a higher level building, such as a large hotel, may find that a bed and breakfast in the Lake District suits their needs.  Most bed and breakfast are located in refurbished homes that tend to have two to four stories.  If you want to make sure that you have a room on a lower floor, simply ask when getting your reservations.  Recently, as more people are taking an interest in remodeling and using older buildings, one may find that there is some bed and breakfast in old factories, old store buildings, etc...When in a smaller town in the United Kingdom.  No matter what type of new or old building you stay in, it is sure to be a pleasurable experience.
If you are taking your children with you on holiday and are concerned about them getting used to a new routine, the Lake District bed and breakfast may be a great choice for you.  Bed and breakfast offer a more home-like atmosphere that may help younger children feel at home than a different type of accommodation.  At a Lake District bed and breakfast they will have more room to occupy themselves and also a grassy yard area outside for recreation that may not be available at other accommodations.  Please remember to check and make sure that the Lake District bed and breakfast accepts children as guests.  If so, then this may be the perfect place to go for your family holiday.  Simply remember that this is the home of most of the proprietors and treat their belongings accordingly.
Hopefully, one can easily see the benefits of staying at a Lake District bed and breakfast.  They not only offer modern conveniences for the traveler, but also a sense of security and the feeling of a "homey" environment for your stay.  The Lake District bed and breakfast can offer all of these things and more.
