If you want a great vacation go and stay at a hotels in Appleby, this is the name of the constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the UK.  One of the better known representatives is or was William Pitt the Younger, who at the tender age of 24 was named Prime Minister in the year of 1783.
The borough of Appleby not only consisted of the town of Appleby and the county town of Westmorland.  It stayed this way until the 1295 Reform Act.  When it came time to vote the votes rested with the people who occupied the hundred burgage tenements.  However in the 18th century most of these burgages were owned by the Lowther and Tufton families, this made it possible to ensure who had control over the election.  Most of the time members of those two families would be elected. 
Appleby borough lies at the heart of the lush Eden Valley, it is set in the great loop of the river and is protected on its south side by the very well preserved Norman Castle.  It is one of the most picturesque market towns in all of Northern England.
The east of Appleby is protected by the High Pennines and the west is protected by the Lakeland Fells.  Appleby’s climate is a bit milder and drier than the rest of Cumbria County.  Thus it is an ideal location to rent a hotel and enjoy the relaxing surroundings.
In the center of town is Boroughgate, this street is a beautiful street that links the castle with the wonderful and mediaeval church St. Lawrence, which is surrounded by mature trees and old buildings.  You can take the time here to explore the specialist shops and relax in either a café or public house.  The railway station is also close to town center.  Hotels in Appleby, no matter what the location, will set you within reach of several wonderful things to do.
Hotels in Appleby holds a number of important events each year, these include the famous three hundred year old Horse Fair that takes part in June, and the very popular Jazz Festival set in July, and throughout the summer you will find the country markets taking place.  With all this offered and the beautiful scenery you will find plenty to keep you busy when you stay at a hotel in Appleby.  In fact you will probably not have enough time to see everything around.
