Hotels in Ambleside

Looking for a nice place to go on vacation?  Well go and get a hotels in Ambleside, which is in the South Lakeland District of Cumbria County England.  The population is a small 2,600 people.  What that means is the hotel service should be outstanding from any you’ve had before.  Hotels in Ambleside is located at the head of the largest lake in England Windermere.  The population does not include the large student body that attend the University of Cumbria which is located in Ambleside.  So don’t be fooled into thinking there will be nothing to do since the size looks so small.  Ambleside will offer you numerous opportunities to stay busy and entertained, be it by walking or climbing a mountain.  Or maybe just researching the history of this old English town, you will be sure to have fun here as in any other location you will choose.
Ambleside got it’s name from the Old Norse word “A-mel-saet” which means river, sandbank, or summer pasture.  Steamers are always available to ride on and will take you to Bowness-on-Windermere and also Lakeside, these rides will offer you a wonderful view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. 
Staying at one of the hotels in Ambleside will also give you the opportunity to hike, climb mountains and even go mountain biking.  There are also a wide variety of shops, hotels, guesthouses, pubs and restaurants to choose from.  As stated above you will have tons of choices of things to do to keep you busy, in fact you could probably easily stay a week in one of the hotels in Ambleside and still not have seen everything that is offered in this town.
If you go south of Ambleside there you will find the Roman fort Galava, which dates all the way back to AD79.  Also a great place to look into the history of Ambleside is the Armitt Library and Museum.  To the west of town is Loughrigg Fell, which rises above the town, also if you go north you will find Red Screes and also the hills of Fairfield group, while the east you will find Wansfell.
Like stated above you will find several hotels in Ambleside to choose from if you stay in Ambleside.  Plus with hotels in Ambleside to stay at you can go and visit William Wordsworth’s house at Rydal Mount.  If you are a poet lover this would be a fantastic thing to go to.
Ambleside has outdoor shops, in 1959 Frank Davies opened the first when he opened his The Climbers Shop.  Walking and climbing are a big part of the local economy in Ambleside.  Also located in Ambleside is Gaynor Sports which is the UK’s largest outdoor equipment store.
Ambleside is rich in history, and a fantastic place to get  one of the hotels in Ambleside for your family to stay on vacation.  Some hotels in the UK are quite small this way they are able to provide better service to you as a customer.  So check out hotels in Ambleside after you make that hotel reservation.
