Haverigg
Haverigg is one of the quieter villages in the Lake District just a couple of miles up the coast from Millom, well suited to bird-watchers, cyclists and walkers. Haverigg is a petite coastal resort with the sea on one side, and fell of Black
Combe standing at around 300 metres on the other side. Nearby Windermere and Ambleside are both easy to reach by car.
Haverigg is well suited for family holidays or a day out as it has a safe beach where children can swim and play. For sandwiches, ice-creams and take away food when hunger strikes, there is a small beach café with a children’s
playground right next to it! There are also pubs in the village if you want a meal and fresh, local produce and groceries can be bought at the local shop. For a sweet treat, try the wonderfully famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding.
For aviation enthusiasts there is a wartime airfield of Kirksanton, the birthplace of the Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue. The Royal Air Force Museum displays a couple of older types of aircraft and equipment.
Take a leisurely stroll from Millom to Haverigg as it passes through the Nature Reserve and is most pleasant on a nice day. Read a book on the banks of the river Lazey, overlooking the many small fishing boats and local RSPB
bird shelter.
The West Coast attractions, the lakes and mountains are easily reached from Haverigg. You can be assured of a warm friendly welcome when you arrive.
