Grange-over-Sands
Situated on the edge of the English Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England, UK is a picturesque seaside town strewn with marvellous limestone buildings, ornamental gardens, a duck pond, golf courses, brass band concerts and spectacular bird watching vantage points…and a traffic-free walkway. This once small fishing village has much to offer visitors or locals alike, with an ideal location between the mountains of the Lake District and the sea, Grange-Over-Sands has a mild climate, beautiful gardens and many local walks. Grange-Over-Sands is the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District Peninsulas. Lake Windermere is practically on the doorstep, being only twenty minutes drive away, or just enjoy the relaxed pace of Grange-over-Sands. An extensive array of exciting activities are available in and around Grange-Over-Sands including golf, horse riding, water sports, archery, fishing, parachuting and bowling. Local attractions in Grange-Over-Sands include Hampsfell Hospice, Humphrey Head, the 800 year old Wraysholme Tower and the Lakeland Motor Museum. Cartmel is also worth visiting with a variety of interesting shops and traditional pubs around its main square as well as its highly popular steeple chase meetings attracting visitors from across the country during spring and summer breaks. In summer do take a guided walk across Morcambe Bay which is three hours of sheer magic but should only be attempted with an experienced guide due to the quicksands and tides! Children and adults alike will enjoy exploring the gardens and feeding the ducks and swans on the lake shore.
