Although, not a tourist town by any means- it does offer something that many other Lake District villages and towns do not- quiet and calm with little distraction.  The area is quiet beautiful, rich green farmlands and views of the fells from every direction, as well as, the occasional deer or red squirrel running amuck.  Gardens and fields of bluebells bloom throughout the warm months and snow capped mountains can be seen from the valley low during winter months.  The area is rich in soil; therefore, many of the locals set up make shift markets for those wishing to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.
For those that enjoy fishing and walking along the rivers edge; there is the river Mite and the Esk that run throughout the valley.  As well, there are many other activities throughout the town that many visitors find interesting.  There are several shops that feature handmade items from the locals; as well as, a variety of restaurants and pubs
For those that truly love nature and all its beauty; the Eskdale Green valley’s inns and guesthouses make for wonderful accommodations.  Most of the public housing for visitors is comprised of century old homes and buildings that have been renovated with modern day amenities.  Families and couples alike often visit the area to take in the wildlife scenery and enjoy a few quiet days out in the country.  With the close proximity to other attractions throughout the Lake District; Eskdale Green offers those wanting to escape the crowds a grand refuge.
