Dockray
Sitting at the foothills of two of England’s most well known fells is the beautiful and quaint town of Dockray. Surrounded by the both the Helvellyn and High Street Mountain ranges; the town boasts of beautiful scenic walkways and cycle paths. As well, the town is conveniently located just one mile from Ullswater; one of the area’s most attractive and popular lakes. For those that visit the beautiful village; there are many historical landmarks throughout the town, including mid-century buildings and homes built of natural stone; many of which are whitewashed in effect. The town is heavily populated with farms and rolling valleys; for those that reside in the charming little town- they often grow their own fruits and vegetables, and then sell them at roadside markets. As well, the restaurants and eateries throughout Dockray often serve up fresh caught seafood and local cuisine. For those wanting to quench their thirst; there are many pubs that feature home brewed ales, malts, and wines. Because of the wonderful location; Dockray is often seen as a great stopping ground for those making there way throughout the scenic Cumbria district. Many of the trails and paths lead to high mountain peaks and breathtaking views. The area of Dockray is surrounded with natural beauty; and for those of you wishing to experience a few days in the rural country of Dockray, you may do so at one of the local accommodation establishments. There are several inns and cottages throughout Dockray that feature vintage architecture and great cuisine on site.
