Dearham
The beautiful village of Dearham sits in the heart of Allerdale district in Cumbria. There are approximately 2000 people that live in the area and enjoy the sweet down home feeling that this rural seaside town has to offer. There is fishing along the River Ellen, as well as, an ancient church erected in the early 12th Century that sits in the heart of Dearham. For those that visit the area; the town boasts two public housing establishments; offering warm beds and quiet evenings with walks in the nearby gardens. Many of the homes and dwellings in the area sit high atop the hills of Dearham; many offer views of nearby Scotland and the fells throughout the Lake District. The natural landscape of the Dearham area offers those on holiday a unique rural feel. The cobblestone streets and red sandstone homes feature century old architecture. As well, the town offers great shopping and cuisine; including a popular and well-known local pie shop with amazing sweet treats. Because the city sits along the river; there is also a wonderful restaurant or two that offers freshly caught seafood. In early days, Dearham was a coal mining town; today, remnants of the old mines and quarries can be found throughout the area; as well as, rich in soil- making it a booming farming industry for both oats and wheat. Today, many of those that still farm the land offer fresh vegetables and fruits in make shift roadside markets.
