Cumwhinton
Cumwhinton is a small village located just down the road from the bustling tourist destination of historical Carlisle. The entire village consists of many century old dwellings made from red sandstone, a prominent natural resource during the 17th and 18th centuries. The majority of those still living in Cumwhinton make their living farming the rich soil; many sell their freshly grown fruits and vegetables along the countryside roads leading to nearby towns of Scotby and Wetheral. The village of Cumwhinton stays fairly quiet throughout the year; except of course during summer months- the town plays host to the horse trials at the nearby race course. For those that journey for miles and miles to take part in the event; the town of Cumwhinton welcomes all with smiling faces, fun and drink at the local pub, and good food. For those that visit the town of Cumwhinton in their travels; there is of course the scenic beauty- beautiful landscaped fields, rolling hills, and rivers of water. Many of the area farms and land have wonderful walking paths and cycling trails; many that visit the area find these activities very relaxing and enjoyable. As well, the town of Cumwhinton offers many historical buildings and shops for those that enjoy browsing and a bit of history. The town is near the busier Cumbria and Cumberland areas, therefore, many enjoy staying in the nearby bed and breakfast inns and cottages simply for the calm and quiet.
