Crosthwaite

Along the southern boundary of the Lake District National Park sits the tiny village of Crosthwaite; a small but quaint village full of charm and historical reference.  For many that visit the Cumbria district, Crosthwaite is exactly the place they wish to visit.  There’s very little tourist activity in the town of Crosthwaite; the laid back atmosphere coupled with the beautiful landscape makes Crosthwaite a wonderful lazy destination for those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
If strolls along the riverside and views of green pastures as far as the eye can see are your idea of a great holiday; then you will probably be happy to know that Crosthwaite has all of the charm and none of the busy tourist distractions like many of the other cities in the Lake District.  There are a few shops located throughout the town of Crosthwaite; most feature hometown artisan’s work.  As well, there are several locally owned pubs- many of which have been a part of the Crosthwaite scene for decades and even centuries.  As well, the restaurants throughout the area offer local fresh seafood and other favorite cuisine.
Accommodations throughout the area are generally available in town at one of the few hotels or bed and breakfast inns located near the Lyth Valley; most feature century old accommodations with of course your modern day amenities.  Most that visit the area come here for its natural beauty and historical ties to old England; as well, the town serves as a great stopping point between busier Lake District areas.
