Crooklands

Crooklands is a small hamlet located along a canal that winds its way through the Northern English countryside; nearing Scotland.  The village of Crooklands canal was once used to move coal from one English town to another; today, the Crooklands village is surrounded by smaller hamlets all encompassed into the district known as Cumbria.  The rolling pastures and country homes that make up the Crooklands village have long been part of its heritage; as well as, many century old churches including one dedicated to St. Gregory; now known to many as Gregory’s Well.
The walking paths along the Crooklands canal are an excellent trail for those wanting to encompass the true beauty of northern England; as well, there are many fishing spots- including many ponds along the path.  For those wanting to take in the scenery, you’ll find many beautiful gardens throughout the town, as well.
Accommodations for those wishing to stay in or around the Crooklands area are numerous; many are old revitalized dwellings that feature historical reference and intrigue.  There are several Bed and Breakfast establishments; as well as, many country homes owned and operated by local Crooklands residents.  Most of the hotels in the area are 4 star resorts that feature modern day amenities and on-site restaurants.  However, it does need to be said that the Crooklands area is also known for its many fine eating establishments, as well.  Many feature local cuisine, including fresh seafood caught in the nearby rivers located throughout the Lake District.
