Cark in Cartmel

The town that sits next to the sea in Northern England known as Cark or Cark in Cartmel was once a busy commerce town.  During both the 18th and 19th Centuries, the town was bustling with mining and mills.  Today, the city of Cark in Cartmel sits quietly along the English coast.  Unlike many of its neighboring villages, the city known as Cark in Cartmel doesn’t see a lot of travelers.  The majority of those that call the town home have lived their lives in and along Cumbria.
For those that would like to visit the quaint town of Cark in Cartmel, you’ll find the rural town much resembles an era of long ago.  There are several museums to visit, as well as, century old estates.  As well, the local airport puts on a wide array of exhibitions throughout the year.  Visitors may find the beautiful gardens near the 400 year old Holker Hall, once owned by the Duke of Devonshire, a charming and intriguing place to visit, as well.  There are a few Bed and Breakfast Inns throughout the seaside community, most offer visitors the chance to stay in a historical dwelling with modern day amenities.
Perhaps the most intriguing tourist interest lies at the Cark and Cartmel Railway station; which still operates today and services the town of Cark in Cartmel, as well as, Flookburgh, and Cartmel.  The station building was erected in 1857 and is quiet interesting because it once serviced Holker Hall; due to that- the rail station building hosts separate seating areas, one for common folk and one for royalty.
