Brampton
Brampton was founded in the 7th century and is a small market town located in Cumbria about 14 km east of Carlisle. It is in close proximity to the A69 road and includes a railway station that is located about a mile outside of the town on the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway. The majority of Brampton contains historic buildings that were built of the local red sandstone. Those remaining were built later and instead of the traditional red sandstone they were built out of concrete. Brampton has one section that is referred to as New Jerusalem most because of the flat roofs surrounding that section. It includes a playing field, basketball court and many students during their lunch break. The history that consumes Brampton is enough to keep a tourist busy for many hours. There are so many different things to see in Brampton, and even if you aren’t a history buff, you are surely going to enjoy getting your feet wet with some pieces of the history and origin of Brampton.
