Bolton
Bolton is a rather large town that is located in the Northwest region of England approximately ten miles northwest of Manchester. It was originally a part of Lancashire with roots as a settlement in the Bolton le Moors. It was a former mill town producing wool and cotton until after World War I when the industry began a steady decline. During the 1980s there was almost no cotton being manufactured in Bolton. Today it is noted more for its football team than its cotton manufacturing industry. Among the historic landmarks are a parish church and the town hall. Leaving behind its history as a producer of heavy industry, much of Bolton is now service-based jobs such as data processing, call centers, hi-tech electronics and IT companies. Bolton also draws shoppers from all over the northern part of England and beyond because of the town center’s Victorian splendor as well as the recently developed retail park, leisure facilities, pubs, restaurants and many more things. Tourism plays a key role in the economy of Bolton thus the reason it has so many attractions that are directed toward visitors. Bolton is bursting with many activities for locals and visitors alike. Whether you are interested in history, entertainment, sports or shopping, you will find plenty to do in Bolton. There is no limit to the number of activities you can find during your stay in Bolton.
