Beetham

Beetham is a village in Cumbria located just north of the Lancashire border. It boasts of grey limestone cottages with cobbled forecourts and was previously the center of an ancient parish. Though not directly in the Lake District, it is only fifteen minutes away and falls within both the Silverdale and Arnside areas of natural beauty. With that in mind, anyone visiting the Lake District should take the time to drive to Beetham and enjoy the beauty of nature and its surroundings. Sightseeing is more than just visiting parks, museums, and the like—it means seeing everything there is to see including the natural beauty of your surrounding area.

Among some of the things you may also find of interest in Beetham is a church with an antique edifice and a corn mill with roots back to 1740. It is located on the banks of the river Bela and is one of few mills that is still working. There is also a museum of papermaking history that you are sure to find interesting. As you travel the path that leads from Arnside to Beetham you will also find a fortified building from the 14th century.

Beetham has a great deal of history surrounding it, and it would be a great disappointment if you were to miss it. It’s close enough to the Lake District that even if you have accommodations at one of the villages or towns in the Lake District, you can still take a day to visit Beetham and bask in its rich history and natural beauty.
