The Agricultural Hotel is a family run business with a warm and friendly atmosphere. We are well renowned for our real ales and we can be found in the good beer guide. We serve food all day Monday to Saturday from 11am to 9pm and on Sunday 12 noon to 9pm.  We have a full menu consisting of starters, plain & simple, house specialties and light bites for people who are looking at just having a snack. We have a children's menu upon request and highchairs are also available. If you are just wanting a relax with a drink why not sit out in the front beer garden or on a chilly day next to the open fire in the bar area. Dogs are welcome into the bar area as long as they are kept securely on a lead. There is a large Plasma Digital television in the bar area and also a dart board for your entertainment.(Please ask staff for darts)

The Agricultural Hotel has been recently refurbished providing first class accommodation close to the centre of Penrith. All rooms are en-suite and come with a digital colour television and tea or coffee making facilities.

The hotel has an ample car park which is used solely for residence and customers of the pub, but has also recently been used for an organised fiat coupe meeting.Due to its size it is able to hold up to 20 cars at any one time.

Built in the year 1807, and located in the heart of Penrith market town, the Agricultural Hotel has been a popular place for farmers, locals and tourists for many years. The Agricultural Hotel is one of the first places in the world to hold a cattle auction.Originally the hotel was owned by the Burns family who were a local family to Penrith and they ran it as a hotel, pub and convenience store for many years. It still has the original feature of the cattle ring hidden away behind the walls of the restaurant, and it is there that the cattle auction would take place week after week. Farmers used to bring the cattle to the bar with them whilst they got themselves a beer or two.The hatch where the farmers used to gain access to the bar directly from the cattle ring can still be found behind the bar to this day, although not functional any more.

The Agricultural Hotel is a mere 2 minute walk from Penrith train station, with trains running to all over the country as it is the main line from London to Glasgow. We are a 5 minute journey just off the M6 at junction 40 which is handy for those who are on a long journey and are looking for a mid way stop off point, or for people who wish to come and spend time in what has become known as, the gateway to the lake district.
